We've seen many unique custom designs inspired by the eponymous glacier, a 7-kilometer-long, slowly moving ice sheet in the Swiss Pennine Alps. To mimic the crystal-clear surface of the ice, Artisans de Genève chose a sapphire crystal bezel and, for the first time, a matching sapphire crystal dial.
Both parts are entirely handcrafted, requiring an absurd amount of time and expertise to complete. Even better, they offer a perfect view of the skeletonized movement, providing a lightness and transparency never before seen in any Rolex. Featuring polarized chronograph subdials and flame-blue hands, they strike a fine balance between readability and horological exposing.
The 4130 chronograph movement boasts a strong skeletonized mechanical feel, opening up a new visual experience for the Daytona.
